The Hotel Casa Real is located on the Santa Rita Estate, and was formerly the summerhouse of the winery’s founder. Following restoration, it was converted into a hotel in the mid-1990s. Located in a 40-hectare park designed by leading French landscape gardener Guillaume Renner. Its late 19th century classical style has been preserved, making it a historic monument and the only park of its kind in the country. Hotel Casa Real offers 16 beautiful rooms, fine dining, salons, and good service, in a setting of absolute privacy and exclusivity. Alongside the hotel stands a Neo-Gothic chapel built in 1880 – like the mansion, it was designed by German architect Theodor Burchard.
L’Hôtel Casa Real est situé sur le domaine de Santa Rita et était autrefois la résidence d’été du fondateur de la cave. Après restauration, il a été transformé en hôtel au milieu des années 1990. Situé dans un parc de 40 hectares conçu par le grand paysagiste français Guillaume Renner. Son style classique de la fin du XIXe siècle a été conservé, ce qui en fait un monument historique et le seul parc de ce type dans le pays. L’Hôtel Casa Real propose 16 belles chambres, une cuisine raffinée, des salons et un bon service, dans un cadre d’intimité et d’exclusivité absolue. A côté de l’hôtel se dresse une chapelle néo-gothique construite en 1880. Comme le manoir, elle a été conçue par l’architecte allemand Theodor Burchard.
The park’s design is rooted in its designer’s French aesthetics, but also integrates other styles that were in vogue at the time when it was created – the English and Italian styles. The latter is reflected mainly in its ornamental motifs such as statues, which include ‘The Boy Flautists’, ‘The Artful Boy’, and ‘The Four Seasons’, as well as a number of fountains and box hedge mazes, created in a pure Renaissance style. Meanwhile, the English aesthetic shines through in the long walks, avenues, and broad lawns.
On the left side of the building, the wine shop where visitors to Santa Rita can take a chance to enjoy wine tastings and purchase wines and local products directly, at the site of the estate’s former maternity unit, which also has historic photos of the vineyards on display. Here you can find a wide range of top wines from both Chile and Argentina, made by Santa Rita, Carmen, Sur Andino, and Dona Paula. You can also buy wine serving accessories, gourmet products, and a range of handicrafts made by members of the Alto Jahuel community. Also a wine dispenser that you can use to try a glass of the finest vintages, making your visit an unforgettable experience.
Photo of the restaurante Dona Paula, currently part of the Historic Monument, was named in honor of Dona Paula Jaraquemada, who sheltered 120 patriots in the fight for Chile’s independence, over two hundred years ago. The mansion is a classic example of colonial architecture, with white walls that display paintings from artistic movements such as the Cusco, Quito, and Potosi schools, high bamboo ceilings with exposed beams, and a wide variety of period antiques on show. Once the mansion had been completed, the architect was tasked with designing and building Santa Rita Chapel. The exterior is in the Gothic style, while the interior features Norman arches and vaulted domes in the Roman style. The images of saints that adorn the chapel walls are the work of one of Chile’s top painters of the era, Alfredo Valenzuela Puelma. Construction was completed in 1885, and the chapel became the main Catholic site for the Santa Rita Estate. The ancient Roman baths, inside the century-old park, are the traces of a prosperous past… In the heart of the park that surrounds Hotel Casa Real, enjoy the pools and the sun.
